Change pointers in BADIs, any advice?

I have added custom fields in a custom table using the Customer Master Data BADI.

Everything was going so well, I could create my Change Documents; and my enhancement to my outbound Idocs.

I am just putting the last piece in place - so that when a user changes data in <b>my fields</b>, then an Idoc will be generated. I cannot seem to generate the change <i>pointers</i> themselves, and have now been exploring the SCDO transaction.

Has anyone got a suggestion?

    Hi Wendy,

I think you are on the right track.

Create your change document object in SCDO and create an update program. This should then create your change pointers.

To double check it is creating your change pointers, the function module creating the pointers is CHANGE_POINTERS_CREATE (this is called in UPDATE TASK mode so you will need to activate the update debugging in the ABAP debugger to get it to stop at a breakpoint in the function)

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards
