BAPIs and IDocs are just another interface mechineism. You can read how to use LSMW by downloading the 'How to' manual from http://service.sap.com/lsmwhttp://service.sap.com/lsmw">http://service.sap.com/lsmw>, you do need a valid OSS / S-number / SAPnet logon however.

The only thing you need to remember additionaly for BAPIs and IDocs is to set up the interface port. After you have decided what method to use, on the main LSMW screen, before you start to edit the object. As a one off create the LSMW port, and then add the appropiate methods for your BAPI or IDoc.
