Influencing the *Ord.Dep.Start date' for individual depreciation

Former Member

Dear experts,

Many of us know that the 'Ord.Dep.Start' date can be set by the period control of the depreciation key. This however, is based on the capitalization date in the asset master record.

I need to achieve the following:

1. Book depreciation: This area should work as usual as above where the period control determines the 'Ord.Dep.Start' date based on the capitalization date.

2. Tax areas: For the tax areas (we've 5 of them), I want the system to derive the 'Ord.Dep.Start' date from the Posting date and NOT from the capitalization date.

I have checked the enhancement to influence the 'Asset value date', however it is not at the level of depreciation areas so

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks

Hi,

In the multilevel method select the validity start from Ordinary depreciation start date instead of captilization date, system will pick the ordinary depriciation date as a captilization date.

Ajay and Srinu,

I am having similar challenge. Both your suggestions are good, but they entail making changes to the depreciation key itself which we don't want to. Because any change on the depreciation key will influence all the new assets which come into existence. We want this special treatment only for the receiver assets during an inter-company transaction.

I am giving my complete scenario below:

We are having an intercompany transfer scenario where we in book 01 we want to treat the asset as a transfered asset. However, in our tax books we want the asset at Net Book Value and treat is as a fresh new asset.

To to that, the following is needed:

1. Book depreciation: This area should work as usual as above where the period control determines the 'Ord.Dep.Start' date based on the capitalization date. There is no issue with this. Works fine.

2. Tax areas: For the tax areas (we've 5 of them), I want the system to derive the 'Ord.Dep.Start' date from the Posting date and NOT from the capitalization date. For the tax areas, I could get the net book values. However, I am not able to set the Ord.Dep.Start date based on the acquisition date. The system sets it always based on the capitalization date which is historical in this case.

I have checked the enhancement to influence the 'Asset value date', however it is not at the level of depreciation areas so

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks

Vishal.

Hi Vishal

Let me think what enhancement can solve your issue

Meanwhile, I would request you to open a new thread.... This thread is owned by someone else.. So, starting a new discussion with in it wont sound professional

Ajay,

Thanks for your willingness to help. The originator is my team mate and he opened the thread for me. So, it won't really matter from a perception point of view.

Any clue would be highly highly appreciated. If you can find the function module/s which calculated the 'Ord.Dep.Start', that also would be a good achievement since then I can use that in a substitution user-exit for Asset master data creation.

Hi

Try to use BAPI_FIXEDASSET_OVRTAKE_CREATE. See info in note 550176...

Ajay,

I did not get it. How will I use this BAPI during ABT1N? Can you throw some light?

Hi

If you create a dep key and tick "Dep to the day" in it, the Dep Start Date would be set exactly from the date of Purchase i..e Posting date..

Tick this indicator in the dep key that you assign to your Tax Dep Areas....
