Determining Reporting Period

Hi,

in our datamodel we have multiple controlling Area's and Company Code.

Depending on the Controllling Area/Company Code combination we have to derive the relevant reporting period.

User are not allowed to fill any variable values. The Controlling Area and Company Code will be derived via Personalization of the Query.

As we do not want the Reporting Period being part of Personalization we created a cutomer table which contains the Controlling Area/Company Code/Reporting Period.

What are the options to derive the Reporting Period?

The idea was to derive it via a user-exit variable.

But can you derive the reporting Period based on the values of Personalization in combination with the customer table???

(is there some sample code??)

Or what are the other options?

Regards,

Hans.

    Hello Hans,

the user-exit is the right choice. BW tries to fill all variables before the user-exit is called. Therefore, if the variable has personalized values, you can access them in the exit.

However, it only makes sense if the CA and comp.code. variables are restricted to one value.
