Tree Node

Hi All,

I have a problem when i am using a Tree Element.

I see a "Collapse All Outline Items" in the Tree Header , but i do not see an "Expand" all? Can this be turned on in some way?

Regards,

Balaji

    Hi Balaji,

    Here the answer from OSS:

No, it can't. The reason why we do not offer an 'expand all' button is because it could cause performance problems:

Imagine that you want to display a huge hierarchy with several thousand entries. When the user clicked "expand all", all this entries would be visible at once and all the data would have to be retrieved from the

backend in one go - possibly causing a huge workload on the backend

    system.

    Best regards, Karin

      Hi Karin,

i agree (partially), since the Collapse all is a Collapse all (this is easy to implement anyway) but in most cases (at least Web UIs) the "Expand all" is not really an "Expand all", rather an "Expand all which were already visible before".

Simply spoken, the previous state of the tree is restored, which doesn't lead to the potential (and correctly mentioned) performance problems, since there is no children loading down to the deepest hierachy level.

      Hope that helps 😉

      Best regards
