Change Costing Messages type

Hi,

During Cost Estimation we get 3 types of messges which are E(Error) as red indicator, W(Warnig) as yellow indicator and I(Information) as green indicator. Suppose if there is error occur for any child part material due to lack of planned price as "No price could be determined for material xyz" then error message appear as E i.e, error with red indicator with above message. My question is should we change that SAP standard messges from E type to W type as warning to bypass the error ? Is it recommendable ? What may problem in future by change this message type.....

Hi

Go to OPR4_CK and see if your message no appears there... If it appears, you can change it to W...

the decision to do it or not depends on the business team.. If you are OK to cost a material w/o the prices of input components, you can change it to W

Personally, I dont prefer to do this

HI,

as an addition to Ajay's answer, search SAPNET notes using "CK11N" and the concrete message number as a search term.

Especially for this case are a lot of SAPNET-notes available how to deal which each of the messages.

Always keep in mind that the message category from SAP standard messages should only be changed when you are 100% sure that it matches your business requirement.

I have different clients with different business cases, so OPR4_CK message control differs from client to client.

I understand both your comments.. Actually my client requirement is they are not able to give 2470 materials planned prices. Even those procured materials dont have any mooving average price also. And these 2470 materials are associated with manufactured item which are combination with procurement type as E and price control as S. When they execute cost estimatation of that manufactured items due to missing planned prices system is generating error message which is no 465 "No price could be determined for material/batch & 1 plant &2" with red indicator.. Other errors also occring which are missing bom or routing etc. But they want to change messges no 465 red indicator i.e, E to W (warning) as yellow indicator. Because in W stage sytem save the record inspite of having no planned prices. But if they avoid this error by chaning error status in future cost calcualtion will also wrong. Because MAP is updated to planned price for costing and if value is not mentioned it will bypass the warning and wrong cost estimation will be made.

Our client has changed the staus from green signal to red sigal in messge no 466 i.e messge type A."Issue as Termination message" which I want to revert back in previous state as green signal i.e, I(Information)... But I am not able to change the indicator because list shows only 3 message type E(Error), W(Warning) and A(Issue as Termination messge). There is no I(Information) messge. Other parts it shows 5 types of messge as E,W, I, A and *(suppress messge). How I can revert back to I messge on no 466 ?

As I said, you should decide whether you would like to cost an FG/SFG w/o its component prices...

If yes, then you can change the message from E to W

Dear Ajay,

Yes, I need component pricing ie, planned price is required. I will change messge type E to W which I have tested also. But our suggestion was to avoid this message type by default use 0.01 in missing planned price because at the moment there is no price. Now they suggest to develop another messge type as warning which will inform your planned price is 0.01 to make aware of users.

My recommendations is not to play with standard errors............... you may fix that error.. but some other may appear which system will not allow to change ..

However.. some errors may be changed to warning .. but decision depends on the error . Can you let us know which error you are planning to change it to wariing..

If its for lack of prices for child material.. then answer is " You cannot change.. you will get some other errors".. and also you must not.. as its based on a logic..
