SAP netweaver ABAP 7.02 installation stuck

Former Member

Dear All,

I am trying to install the above but the installation is stuck in phase 16 i.e importing ABAP.

Over 30 hrs have elapsed but it still stuck up at the same place i.e phase 16 as can be made out by the fact that the install dir has the same size it had hours ago.It gives no error message.

I tried to post the contents of the log browser but it was more than 15000 characters, the limit in these forums.

So if anybody will give their email id I will send it to him since there is no option of uploading files here.

Any suggestion to resolve this issue would be highly appreciated.

Thanks for your efforts.

- is the machine doing something (task manager)?

- open the log directory, sort them by date and time descending and check the last entries

- post your configuration (OS, database, RAM).

Hi Markus,

" is the machine doing something (task manager)?

- open the log directory, sort them by date and time descending and check the last entries

- post your configuration (OS, database, RAM)."

1)is the machine doing something (task manager)?

the machine in the task manager is showing the installer as "running" but in effect it seems its doing nothing bec' the installation folder size remains the same over several hours.

2) The last error msg says some error thrown by the OS but its not clear what it is.

3) My config is as follows:

Processor : Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 Ghz

RAM: 4 GB(but only 3GB is usable since it is 32bit OS)

HDD: 320GB( 100 GB free)

OS: MS Vista Home Premium

Installed DB: Oracle,postgres.

Its a DELL Studio 17 Laptop.

Thanks for ur reply.

Microsoft Vista Home is not supported, you will have to use at least Vista Enterprise or a real server operating system.

Hi,

Where does it say that that Vista Home is not supported?

It says only Windows Vista which means any version of Vista.

No where does the documentation say that a Server OS is required.

In fact the only server version supported by it is Windows Server 2008.

The other OS's are Windows XP and Windows Vista, both of which are client OS.

Thanks.

Are you talking about the evaluation version downloadable here on the SDN?

Hi,

The link u have given is asking for a username and password which I don't have.

Yes I am installing the Trial version as given in the link below:

The link no 2 is what I downloaded and trying to install.

Thanks.

Hi,

This phase completely depends upon how many parallel jobs you have defined and how much resources are available in your system. If you can share these details then it will be helpful to suggest. Please also paste latest logs.

Thanks

Hi Sunny,

I wanted to paste the logs here but unable bec' of 15000 character restriction.

So how to overcome it?

Thanks.
