Check the valid from date of the Phantom BOM & the header status. Then check the bom explosion date in the order header tab.

If the phantom BOM is not valid as on the date of explosion date, then it wont read the BOM.

Check the material status in MRP-1 view, check selection method in MRP-4 view.

The above checks should help clarify the query, if not upload some screenshots of production order header (all tabs), bom (header & item), MRP 1 - 4 view of the phantom material.

Dear,

In the BOM explosion of the material requirements planning, order processing system checks for the existence and validity of the BOMs for the phantom assembly.

If no BOM exists for a phantom assembly, the system overrides the attribute of the phantom assembly and creates an requirement for this assembly which effects the availability. The BOM item is treated like a standard stock item.

If the system cannot determine a valid BOM for the phantom assembly with regard to the selection criteria, it will skip this assembly in the explosion. In this case the system does not create corresponding requirements, neither on assembly level nor on subordinate component level.

Check in MRP exception message 54 ('Phantom assembly was not exploded') is there or not?

Also refer OSS Note 13023 - Why was a BOM not exploded?

Hi All

Many thanks for your reply . The issue is now resolved . Following were my findings

1. The production order HT50001 was created and released on 02.11.2010

2. Phantom Material was created ( Valid from ) 26.11.2010. Thus when the production order was created and released , the phantom material didnu2019t exist . This is why we were getting the error u201C BOM component could not be explodedu201D .

REMEDY:- Clicked on CO02 Functions  Read PP Master Data . This brings the production order status back to CRTD . Then release the production order . The error should note appear .

Due to your replies I could solve the issue .
