Require information about archiving

Hi All,

We are executing the report FAGLL03 (G/L account line item Display G/L view) for a few GL accounts. We are able to get data from the report at the beginning months of the year but towards the end of the year due to high volume of data in FAGLFELXA table, the report does not give any data i.e., we get a dump. Please note that we have sufficient memory allocated to run this report.

We are now considering archiving as an option to solve this problem. What are the activities involved? What are the requirements to be gathered? Any pointers in this regard will be very helpful.

Hi,

Doing archiving once a year and in the middle of it, does not sound as a good solution to me. Did you check the relevant notes, concerning this report, for example 987950 and 1135916?

Hi Eli,

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my question.

We have decided not to archive. But we want to improve the performance of report FAGLL03. I did look at the notes & found them to be helpful. However, we are also thinking revisiting indexing & look at other performance improvement methods. Do you have any suggestions?

Hi,

For archiving you should follow standard rules:

1 - As per Law we should maintain at least 5 years accouting data in the system

2 - All line items should be clear / Open items not archived Etc
