Future of PDK

Hi,

I’m wondering in which direction the PDK is going.

Will it be an integrated part of SAP Netweaver Developer Studio or can we expect a PDK for EP 6.0 SP4 in the near future?

Best regards,

Henrik

    Hi

The PDK for ep6 sp4 is a business package so the Portal plus BP itself is the new PDK. Seems to work quite well and overall not a bad idea from SAP.

The PDK for the NW04 release will be delivered as a Business package or SDM installation format. It has new plugins that are integrated into NW Developer Studio (the plugins will no longer work with stand-alone Eclipse). The plugins have additional wizards for creating various types of projects (JSP Dynpage, Abstract Portal Comp., etc.). Just like the PDK for other versions of EP6, you will need a complete portal installation in order to install the PDK.

New documentation and examples are also included in the kit as well as tools to help with WebDynpro integration and other WebAS 6.40 features.

    Later this year 😉

Seriously... we'll have more to say about this soon. For now you might consider trying the "Sneak Preview" edition. It contains much of the functionality that will be available in the general release.

    Have fun,

    will
