Hello,

we want to evaluate the NW Developer Studio especially

for creating Web Dynpro Applications.

Therefore we want to Install the NW Developer Workplace 6.30 (with local J2EE engine 6.30) on some of our

developer frontends.

But where can we download the software package "NW Developer Workplace 6.30 "?

Kind Regards

Jörg Markus

Hi Stefan,

can i use the supplied J2EE as a standalone-J2EE on our frontend-PCs (without WebAS 6.40) as described in the Installation Guide for NW Developer Workplace ?

Hi Joerg,

i think yes, since the WAS Sneak Preview seems to be a (time) limited Dev.Workplace edition.

Hi Stefan,

which version of the J2EE is supplied with the Sneak preview Version of WAS 6.40 ? Is is 6.30 or 6.40 ?

I think, we have to use the 6.30 - Version of the

J2EE ,because we are already working with a licenced Version of the WAS 6.20 and we want to connect the J2EE

of the NW Dev. Workplace to the WAS 6.20 - System.

Hi Joerg,

it's a 6.30 version, i don't know the current patch level. But be aware that you can't use the DevStudio from Sneak Preview to do any deployment on the 6.20 engine, afaik. Too many things have changed from 6.20 to 6.30 you will have to keep the systems separated, i guess.

Hi Joerg,

you can't download it, it's only available for ramp-up customers so far. For evaluation purposes, it's sufficient to download the Sneak Preview version at: https://www.sdn.sap.com/sdn/developerareas/was.sdn?page=software_download.htm

There's not so much difference between a Dev Workplace installation and Sneak Preview, except the limited license and some missing features (which were added in the meantime as Service packs to Dev Workplace).

Hope that helps.

Regards

Stefan
