Target Day's supply

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to understand the concept of Target day's supply in SNP. We maintain this field on the lot size tab in the product master. I tried F1 help on this field, but was unable to completely understand the concept. I would greatly appreciate, if you could help me understand the purpose of this field.

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Varsha.

    Dear Versha

Yes as you mentioned correctly, boht the field have near about the same meaning.

The only difference is Traget days of supply get used only in macro which is SAP standard, but safety day┬┤s supply gets used with respect to the safety stock parameter which is defined in the same tab. So as I mentioned the difference is how you want to use it.

Please let us know, if it helps you.

    Thanks

    Amol

    Hi Varsha

As you mentioned in APO product master, we defined the target days of supply, which is no of safety days stock you want to have it at the end of every planning bucket. With respective to target days of supply, there should be macro which check the demand in future of particular days and calculate the target supply stock in quantity.

When you execute the SNP heuristic, SNP will always try to create the supply element to keep your on hand stock after each bucket more than target supply stock in quantity.

The target days of supply, is also called dynamic safety stock method. When the demand in future gets reduced, you target supply stock in quantity, also get reduced automatically.

I hope this will give you some insight about it.

Please let us know if you require any more information regarding it.

    Thanks

    Amol

      Hi Amol,

Thanks a lot for the replyu2026

I am actually confused between the Safety dayu2019s supply and Target dayu2019s supply.

For the Safety dayu2019s supply, the system gives me the below description:

In SNP, the safety days' supply specifies the number of workdays over which the system has to take into account future demands when planning Safety Stock.

I would greatly appreciate, if you could help me understand the difference.

      Thank you
