Queues getting stuck in CRM

SAP can handle Queues upto max. of 3000. However, users are facing issues even with 700 Queues like ppl are able to view BP details...

Currently we have to maually clear the QUEUES to resolve it.

We are currently on CRM 4.0. If anybody has faced this problem then please let us know as to how why this is happening.

Also, currently the queue size are being monitored manually. We would soon be configuring CCMS alert monitor to provide us automated alerts when the queue size increases the threshold limit. Please do suggest if there is any alternative to this approach.
