Hi,

After deploying the standard Org Chart for V 3.0 - we are trying to configure position hierarchy and we are getting this error when trying initialize the 'Profile' step:

java.lang.NullPointerException. Step is disabled.

Did anybody every have this issue?

thanks.

JB

Hi Jamie,

I have a later build than the SMP one and it doesn't occur in that. It could be to do with CE/Java versions. What version of CE are you using and what version of Java is it using?

Either way, it is probably worth raising an OSS message with SAP. Nakisa will then send you an updated build which should contain a few fixes. Please make sure you specify the CE and Java versions.

Best regards,

Hi Luke,

We are on CE 7.1 SP8 and Java Version 1.5022. I think we my ask SAP for the most current build.

thanks.

Hi Jamie,

Unfortunately, this is an issue with the build.

Newer build had this solved.

Anyway, you don't really need that step to setup the Org Chart.

Unless if you want to hide some fields, you need to modify some XML files.

Hi JB,

Yes, I would report the problem(s) you have (look around, you'll probably find a couple more) and they should send you a new build.

As jackwong specifies, you can also do this configuration via the XML file. Just go to orgchart.xml in moduleconfiguration and change PositionReportingStructure to enable="true". You can enter other details in the positionreportingchart.xml file in orgchartconfiguration.

Good luck with both!

Thanks,

If we get a new build from Nakisa/SAP - does this mean we have to redo any configuration that we have done in our current build after the new build is imported?

thanks.

Hi Jamie,

No, you just need to export your configuration (or backup the build folder) and import it into the newly deployed build folder.

See "Importing and Exporting Builds" section in the documentation (e.g. "OrgChart_VSN30_Admin_En.pdf").

Hi Jamie,

For configuration (the settings you changed from Admin Console), yes, you can just export and import.

For customization (you changed the xml file directly), these changes you have to redo after you installed the new build.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

HI Jack,

That is not correct. Exporting a build will export all changes. Changes should be made into the .delta folder for the system to read changes correctly.

If you have had problems please open a thread and we can try and solve it

Best regards,

Luke
