Query copy from Production to Development?.

Hi,

Did anyone find a solution to copy queries from production to development (not manually or not using transports)?.What for BC sets are used?.Share your ideas please.Thanks.

Hi GFV,

Did you try with XML?.I thought XML was not working for queries.Please let me know how did you do it with XML.Thank you.

In RSA1 go to Transport Connection. Ther you find XML icons, that should be used to exchange metadata between different sys. We did try during a course, but it's quite slow and it's better not to put too many Objects in one XML Export ...

We considered the option to use XML, but keep in mind it requires BW 3.x ... On anotther inst. we did use trasports as well, with no problem.

Hello,

just one remark. Transporting from Production to Development is definitely not "Best Practice". For exceptions this is OK, but I can't recommend to do this on a regular basis. Because in the end you will turn your production system into a development box and create potential circular references:

DEV -> QA -> PROD -> DEV

Yes, I know and I was "disguted" at the idea to do that ... but a lot of reasons have required PROD -> DEV to ensure consitency ...
