Variable is Changeable during Navigation Question!

I have a query with a 0CALDAY user exit variable that is populated with the current date-1 and has the following settings:

Input Ready: NO
Changeable during query navigation: YES

My thought process is that the query would run initially without any user intervention and IF the user would like to change the value they could because the "Changeable during query navigation" was selected. I am finding that the query is running with the variable populated, but I cannot go and change the value.

Any ideas why I can't change the variable value? Why would it let me configure the variable with Input No and Changeable Yes?

    Hi,

if it's possible your variable value has been transfered to the navigation block and you should be able to change the value via dynamic filters (navigation block, DD-Box, ...).

But this depends on the usage of the variable. If it's inside of the structure this is not possible.

Please have a look on the online documentation for more details

Thanks for the link. When I read it the phrase

"Always a roadblock, never a freeway" comes to mind..

If your asking if I understand the documenation link that SAP wrote... I'd say it's about as clear as mud.

I just need a variable that will initially be populated and allow the user to change it on the fly. Guess I can't do this because of the way I'm "using the variable"

      I'll keep digging...

    Kenneth,

make sure that the infoobject 0CALDAY is not a filter cell but a free characteristic, row or column item in the Query definition.

In that case, when you execute the report, the characteristic 0CALDAY will be shown in the reports filter cell area and here you can use the option "select filter value" to change the variable value.

I have tested it with BW 3.1 and the BEX-analyzer and it works.

When you use the option "change variable value" in the BEX toolbar, you are right, the variable will not be shown so you can't change it.

I have noticed this problem with all variables with the option "changeable during query navigation" also when the option "input ready" is set to YES.

I hope this will help you
