Hi,

No impact on the system as long as the patching is successful.

Please check if 10.2.0.5 is support by SAP before doing it.

Hi,

there is always the chance, that something changes, when you switch the DB SW.

The chance is slightly bigger with a release change, than with a patchset, but it is still there.

We had quite some trouble with the HASH GROUP BY access plan when going from 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.4.

Querys where runnning forever and were crunching memory like cornflakes.

We needed to apply a workaround, to overcome problems that are still not completely fixed.

It took some Optimizer Merge Fixes on 10.2.0.4 to wait for, before things turned back to normal for most of the systems.

But on one special BW system we still have it disabled allthough all patches are in place.

Performance is acceptable, but for this special system, memory consumption in a hash group by plan is still unacceptable.

So patching should have no big impact, but be prepared that it might have nevertheless.

One issue that I have seen is that BRTOOLS functionality got affected.

That is, BRSPACE was not able to connect to Database and hence affects DB BACKUPS (specially offline).

Actually during patching the role was not properly assigned to SAPDBA, thus error creeped in.

I hope, that this is not the case for your scenario.
