Regarding Overlapping Request - Where to add

Hi

In Process chain, in need to add a process " Delete Overlapping Request ".

But my doubt is do we need to add this process before " Rollup",create index,Create DB stats step or after rollup step,create index,Create DB stats

If need to add Delete Overlapping Request before Rollup n other steps --- why ? is there any technical reasons

Or

If need to add process " Delete Overlapping Request " after Rollup n other steps --- why ? is there any technical reasons

Hi Shankar,

you should perform this step before the other steps you mentioned (i.e. straight after the DTP or infopackage) as this will have an influence on the data in the cube.

Thus roll up to aggregates, creating indexes and stats should happen when all the new data is loaded and old data is deleted (i.e. after the " Delete Overlapping Request ").

If you did it the other way around your statistics won't be up to date.

Hi,

With delete overlapping step, you need to make sure that overlapping request is deleted after loading. If you put it after roll up, create index etc, then these steps are going to take time for double requests in the target.

so better you put the delete step after load is finished.

Roll up, BIA Index steps will take more time for rolling up and creating index for almost double requests than single request in the target.

Hi Dear,

you should keep this process of deleting overlapping request before creating index and after DTP.

Because it removes the overlappings and after that create index process will take less time to create index for only required request.

After that you can keep DB Stat. and roll up processes as per the bussiness requirement.

if you put this process at the end. then create index process will take a long to complete as well as roll up will fill the aggregate with overlapping request and that will not be good for bussiness.

so keep this process in between the create index and DTP.
