Virtual Key Figures - Can we read Navigational Attribtes?

Hi,

I need to populate some values during query execution time. For this, I'm using Virtual Key Figures. I know we can read the Characterstics defined in the Cube Definition. My question is - Can we read the values of Naviagtion attributes?

In details, I've material in the Cube as characterstic and Brand as the navigational attribute to the Material. While populating the Virtual Key Figures, I should be able to read the Brand value. Is it possible? I can't put the Brand as a Characterstic in the Cube for some other reasons.

Thanks,

Trinadha

    Hi Trinadha,

    1. Yes, you can read the values of Naviagtion

    attributes.

    2. U can use band value as Brand as a Characterstic in

the Cube for specific requirement, in this case no

need to use the Virtual Key fig.

    Regards

    Ravi.

      Hello Ravi,

Thanks for your reply. I can't follow your second point, as my brand might change and I need to report on a latest value (No history).

Coming to point 1, we can read the navigational attributes using the M-table after reading the Key. I'm concerned about performance here. My question is can we read the value directly instead of using a select statement on M-TABLE?

Because Material is a char defined in the Cube definition, the material value is available and we can read directly. Can we read the brand value similar to Material with out using additional Select? If yes, How to read?

      Thanks,

      Trinadha
