Changing period control method in depreciation key

Hello Experts,

We are in SAP R/3 4.7. We have a requirement to change the depreciation key, so that asset picks up the depreciation start date as first day of the next month.

Currently we are using the period control method 01 for all the four activities i.e. asset acquisition, subsequent acquisition, transfer and retirement. As i understand, if we change the period control key and use period control 11 instead of 1, I might be posting some addtional month depreciation if the asset is transferred or retired before end of its useful life. Can anyone please tell me if we have any other impact?

While testing the changes, I also realized, that even though I am putting the period control as 11, the depreciation starts for the amount in the same month of posting.

Can any one point out what exactly subsequent acquisition mean and how the behavior changes if we chnage the period control for subsequent acquisition from 01 to 11.

Thanks in Advance.
