is it possible to read data from an SQL-Server with ABAP?

    yes, that's possible with Native SQL. You will find more information (including a coding example) on this topic in note 323151 (and its related notes).

      I asked my favourite search engine. "Found 77,400 for JDBC UNIX SQL-Server. (0.27 seconds)".

      The first hit said: "... Operating Systems: Unix, Windows 2000, Windows XP. The following versions of SQL Server will be supported for use with the SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC SP1: ... ".

      I suppose the answer would then be "yes".
