InfoView not writing reports when sent to an FTP?

Former Member

I have added FTP destination info to these job servers, but HAVE NOT restarted them as yet:

(*) Crystal Reports job server

(*) Adaptive Job Server

(*) Destination Job server

(*) Desktop Intelligence Job Server

(*) Publication job server

If i schedule a report and set the destination as FTP, the report instance fails with :

server error. []: [CrystalEnterprise.Ftp]

The curious thing (to me) is that the report filename appears ends up in the right directory (ie. something has connected to the ftp server, navigated to the right place, and created a file there!) - but the file is empty.

I'm pretty sure the user that logs into the ftp server has the correct permissions to create and write files.

Am I missing something perhaps? Or should I go for a restart?

Any help much appreciated.

The prefix "http" in the error message string looks suspicious to me. There should be no http text in any FTP related error messages in BO. Please confirm, if this is the case.

As part of troubleshooting, please try uploading a finished instance of a report to the FTP location using Windows Explorer and same filename & credehtials. Try this from the BO server computer only. If this works, we can check other options.

Hi - sorry, it's in brackets which this thinks is a link.

So there's no http, just says:

server error. CrystalEnterprise.Ftp

Anyway - Yes, i have tried successfully and have ftp'd a completed excel format report to the ftp destination, directly from the BO server (which is running linux).

Any more suggestions?

Appreciate your help.

WHich version of BO do you use? Any fix packs or service packs installed?

Did you check the logs of your FTP server?

Hi,

We are using Business Objects EDGE STANDARD 3.0

And for web intelligence: Business Objects XI Release 2

I will see if i can check log files on the ftp server.

The versions you are mentioned are not really compatible.

Or do you mean that your webi reports where migrated/imported from an XI R2 server into a BO Edge 3.0 server?

Apologies - i obviously am fairly new to business objects.

I know that we use this: Business Objects EDGE STANDARD 3.0, and the server is a linux machine.

Hello,

I have the same issue. I'm using a version of InfoView that is shipped by Novell with ZCM.

InfoView is instaleld on a Windows 2008 R2 SP1 server.

If a make a schedule to copy the file to a netowrk share then it is working but not in an FTP destination.

This is not an user/password/right issue.

Thanks in advance.
