Xcelsius BW connectivity using Live Office

Hi,

Currently, we are on Netweaver 7.01 SP3, Business Objects XI 3.2 SP 2, and MS Office 2010.

We need to create several Xcelsius Dashboards - some require static data and thus we are looking to leverage scheduled Crystal report data.

Other dashboards require live BW data. Although BICS is the preferred method for live data, we have to use QaaWS until we upgrade to at least SP5 ( we intend to upgrade to SP8 shortly).

As for reporitng off scheduled Crystal repot data - i have few questions:

1) Is Live Office supported in our environment (Netweaver 7.01 SP3, BO XI 3.2 SP2, Office 2010)

2) If not, what other choice do I have to leverage scheduled Crystal Report Data into the Xcelsius dashboard?

3) Is live Office here to stay, or is SAP looking to replace Live Office with another tool in the near future.?

that option clearly is the best option for the described case.

Hi Ingo,

Since we are already on Office 2010, Live Office is not supported. Therefore, we cannot use live offie data to leveralge scheduled crystal report as a source for dashboard.

Is there any other way I can leverage Scheduled CR data into a dashboard?

QaaWS / BICS can be used for live data, but our dashboard really doesn't require live data.

Hi,

in SP3 Live Office is not supporting Office 2010 yet - correct.

There is no other option to leverage a Crystal Reports based instance right now

If you have a look at the PAR for Xcelsius 2008 SP3 [Find it here|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/articles?rid=/webcontent/uuid/e01d4e05-6ea5-2c10-1bb6-a8904ca76411] [original link is broken]; you will see that MS Office 2007 is the latest supported MS Office release.

Since you are already using QaaWS to get that from BW, why don't you use the QaaWS service to extract data from your Crystal report?

From the road maps I've seen Live Office is here to stay since it brings an MS Office integration to BOE.

Hi Josh,

To your answer to question 2, could you confirm that QaaWS can be created against a Crystal Report? My understanding was that QaaWS can only be created against Universes.
