Visual Studio 2010 "This document could not be opened" error in Designer.

I'm running VS 2010 on a Windows 7 machine with the Production version of the CR plugin.

I've seen other threads which advised to copy the "crdb_adoplus.dll" file to a "dotnet1" directory. - Done

Another thread advised renaming "saxserialize.dll" to "saxserialize.org". - Done.

Now, when I try to open the designer, I get:

C:\Users\Jallred\AppData\Local\Temp\{178FCD3F-C8AC-401D-9757-0C120D053035}.rpt

This document could not be opened.

The application will however compile just fine. When running the following statement:

Dim crDisplay As New ReportDocument()

, the following error results:

Creating an instance of the COM component with CLSID {F734A321-8381-4FFD-A614-139E8906DC83} from the IClassFactory failed due to the following error: 80040154.

Just as a side note, the Crystal Report Plugin for Visual Studio 2010 has NEVER worked correctly for me. First, it was the Database Expert hanging VS. Then Verify Database crashing VS. Is there some installation guide that I'm missing that addresses these behaviors? If not, I'm prone to believe that Crystal Reports is something to be thrown in the virtual dustbin.
