Kindly explain me the same.

Hi,

I'm interesting by the transportation cross docking process with EWM.

Regarding the process flow for stock transport orders, what is exactly triggers a cross docking stock transfer order ?

What is the customizing for this document type ?

Thanks in advance

Hi Maria,

In simplistic terms EWM is a WMS (Warehouse Management System) design to support warehousing operations and material flows for the logistics processes in the scope of the SD module. That is processes that manage, control and optimise the physical hadling of goods.

Again in simple terms EWM can be considered a more advance from of the WM module which found as a core module in the ERP.

- In reality EWM also extends process support into other areas were physical product is managed by a system such as transportation and yard management, warehouse automation, Labour Management, PP and 3rd party logicstics.

The acid test for a business considering a WMS is if a material (product) is contained in more than one physical location in a warehouse) or if the physical material flows and internal warehouse processes are complicated enough to require support by an additional system or ERP module.

It sounds from your description of your project scope that the functionallity of a WMS is not required?

Thanks James
