webdynpro bsp coexistence

hi guys,

we're corrently working on some bsp-applications, that should in the near future be called from webDynpro-Applications, when this technology is available with 640.

my question is:

- is it possible to call bsp's from webdynpro and jump back to the calling one?

- do we have to consider some facts in bsp-developing for that planned coexistence?

kind regards,

oliver

    Oliver,

Before we have exchanged some notes that Web Dynpro ABAP will not be available in 640, so we assume you are talking Web Dynpro Java. Maybe you should explicitly mention it each time!

From what I know, WDJ does not at the moment support such "off-site" calls to other web applications, plus a return to the running WDJ application. This is planned for NW05.

What do you want to plan for BSP? Nothing really. It is running in the browser, suddenly something else is running (which does not interest the server) and then it is running again.

The import parts here is to keep an eye on the session-id, which is usually stored as cookie and the return URL to the BSP application so that the cookie is correctly pulled again.

But maybe you first finish the BSP application, and then worry about this. Now is not the time.

    • Hi Oliver,

Let me quote Bush, "Read my lips": there is <b>NO</b> Web Dynpro ABAP in 640. Should you find (which you surely will), don't tell us about it, and don't ask us about. My days of Don Quite has long since passed.

At a very technical level: once the no-go decision was made, we stopped updating the delayed 640 images, and as such the actual version was left as "work in progress". I don't think you will be happy with it, and no: you will not tell me.

I can not make a final product commitment. However, I think it is fair to say currently WDA is in planning for Netweaver 05, which might at the earliest ship autumn of next year, if not later. This is just a guess date from our product cycles. I have no official knowledge on this yet.

For your planning, if ABAP then BSP until minimum end 2005. If you like Java, you can use Web Dynpro Java today.

This is my final discussion of the topic Web Dynpro here. Please drop the subject.
