COPA is very old technology!

I heard from a person (claims 10+ SAP experience) who said COPA is very old technology and it can only produce P&L report by market segment.

Can expert tell me is that true? Is it a very old technology? If yes, what is the replacement from SAP? Many thanks.

Yes.. It is old, very Old.. But, it is GOLD... The entire BW has been developed based on the design and architecture of COPA...

What COPA can deliver you nothing else can deliver... COPA is meant for P&L reporting alone, and hence it gives P&L alone...

Hi ,

Purpose of COPA is for profitability Analysis . It contains all the datas for profitability analysis .

Now , COPA can also report the analysis from the data derived in this module . COPA Report performance has issues if we have a large organization with huge datas ..

We now have other reporting softwares like BW , Teredata where the reporting is done . Data are taken from COPA and reports are viewed in BW etc...

Hence , COPA can never be a old technology and is evergreen .. only reporting in COPA is a old technology now for large companies as we have other reporting softwares in place .. But , mind that ll reporting softwares take data from COPA and these reports are not at real time.. You need to transfer data from COPA to these systems to view report..
