Role for ADS_AGENT

Hi All,

We are configuring ADS in our ECC landscape. In our landscape ECC (ABAP only system) and Portal (Java only system) are different systems. Therefore as per configuration document the role required for ADS_AGENT user id in ECC system is SAP_BC_FPADS_ICF.

But our customer does not allow to assign any standard role to any user, they suggested to create a customizing role by copying the standard one and assign it to ADS_AGENT user id.

Now my question is if we assign the customizing role instead of the SAP standard role then will ADS work?

hi,

yes he is right, it is a recommended procedure that we copy the standard role to our customized role and assign them to users so we can make changes to that role if required with out disturbing standard role.

It will work as long as the custom role has the same authorization objects.
