Designer closes during universe refresh preventing refresh

Designer is closing during a universe refresh for a specific universe. Thus, for this one universe we're unable to refresh it. For other universe refreshes, the refresh completes as usual with the Added, Modified, Delete window.

Has anyone encountered this issue before or know how to resolve it?

Have you checked that the middleware is working and is the correct one for the DBMS?

If it is SQL Server, have there been any collation changes within the database?

Middleware and DBMS are fine. Designer only closes during refresh for this 1 universe; other universe refreshes behave normally. These universes are based on SAP BEx queries.

i've seen it many time for different reasons.

few of them are:

univers was having derived tables.

server version and client version are different

enable the trace on designer, you can see in the logs where it is crashing.
