Data Federator and BW Authorization

Hello Experts,

I hope you can help me on this.

A backgrounder:

SAP just delivered a health care productivity dashboard using Excelsius, queries as web services, and the DF pointing to some SQLserver somewhere. Looks ok and working well. The BOBJ objects are not tightly coupled to BW. They are standalone. The DF version is XI 3.0 SP2.

The new business scenario is that instead of the SQLserver feed, the data should now come from BW providers because of many transformation requirements. I thought that was ok since all I need is just to configure my providers and then 'remap' the DF to these BW providers making them as relational universes. I think that should be ok but questions have risen regarding user authorizations. I know from existing documentations that DF leverages the BI authorizations.

The question is how does DF leverage/use BI authorizations. I don't know exactly how the interface works. For example, if user1 brings up a kpi which is directly map through a relational universe defined for a BW provider, how will the existing roles defined for that user come into play?

Not sure if I made my point vividly, but let me know if you need more info and I really appreciate your help.
