how to deal multiple web templates and multiple queries?

we created around 20 queries, 20 web templates. all web templates are same with a text element and a table with the same properties. just data provider (query) name is different in the web template.

performance wise, is it better creating 20 web templates for 20 queries or create 1 web template for 20 queries and change the data provider(query) name based on the selection?

if creating 1 web template is a good way of dealing with, how do I change the data provider for each web template? can we pass data provider parameter to the web template url?

actually, we are accessing BW web templates from portal. so, we access each web template with the following URL from the portal

can we pass a dataprovider ID as well with the webtemplate ID?

any help is greatly appreciated.

    it does not impact the performance. So you can use one Template for all DataProviders. However, if you want to allow template personalization for your end users you would need different templates, as the personalization is only available per template.

    in your parameters for the Iview you would need to change the querystring cmd=LDOC&template_ID=MY_WEB_TEMPLATE_ID to cmd=LDOC&template_ID=MY_WEB_TEMPLATE_ID&query=ABC&infocube=DEF (for queries) or

    cmd=LDOC&template_ID=MY_WEB_TEMPLATE_ID&data_provider_id=DEF (for queryviews).

    Please see topic Calling up the Web template with a different data provider
