Account XXX requires an assignment to a CO object

while I am trying to release a debit memo to accounting I am getting the error,

Account XXX requires an assignment to a CO object .

What is this error for? Is this because in OKB9 there is no cost-center assigned? I can see a profit center assigned there but no cost center.

Or shall I ask the user to manually enter cost center in the billing doc?Or maintaining cost center in OKB9 is the only solution?

Is there any other workaround?

Hi Rudra,

Why profit center is assigned to a Cost element which is an Expense?

Actually a Cost Center should be assigned to Expense cost element and Profit center should be assigned to Income cost element.

So assign a cost center to that GL in the OKB9.

Thanks & Regards

Hi,

Its a debit memo. SO in this case, payment should be done by the Customer, to sales. So its a revenue account only.

But you told its an expense. Please let me know why?

The GL account I am talking about is a Royalty Income Inter-company (SD)

Hi,

You were trying to assign cost center to a GL, so I thought it should be an expense GL. I missed the point that you talking about SD.

Sales Order item is also a CO object, did you check whether the item has Sales order reference.

If this doesn't help, another option is entering Internal order (with revenue postings, as it is a revenue item) in SD.

Thanks and Regards
