Hi All,
We have plan for upgrading SAP from 4.7 to Ecc 6 on AS400 on V6R1.On production we have a DR server as well.
What is the recommended way of upgrading the DR server? Do we need to take the back up of the upgraded ECC before SGEN and restore it on the DR or after upgrade run SGEN and take a offline backup and restore it on the DR server?
Also can we release the system for testing when SGEN is running to minimize the downtime?Sgen runtime is almost 6 hours on Sandbox.
Please suggest..
Thanks in advance..
Regards!!
Ravi
Hi Volker,
Thanks for the input, in our case we are planning to do a back up from the source and restore it on the DR server and then activate the CL for replicating the journal receiver. What is the best way to do it?
If I do it after the SGEN then again that is adding to my downtime. Also the backup is recommended before SGEN as some time it breaks the system.
Any Suggestions???
Regards!!
Ravi

Hi Ravi,
you are asking interesting things )
SGEN: Our SGEN takes 1h max )
Have a look at:

Typically, you switch the kernel on the target and re-sync the complete DB with savlib/rstlib - do not forget the profiles ...
