Hello Everyone,
"You do not need a material master record for the material number that you are replacing".
I wish to confirm what actually does this statement mean :
Is it
1. When configuring material substitution of Material A with Material B, Material B, the material code, need not be created in the material master data .
or is it
2. When configuring material determination the entered material in the sales order need not be a material code that is already created in the material master data? For example,
I configure a Material Determination as follows:
Material Entered : Monitor99
Material : ATA99
Reason : Z99
Alternative Materials: ATA99, ATA88, ATA77
In the sales order, i enter Monitor99 as the material code and it will replace by ATA99?
regards
Bass
Hi Bass,
I also had the same confusion; but it is cleared.
Here the material entered is Monitor99; this will be replaced by ATA99. Here you will have material master records for both the items Monitor99 and ATA99.
If I want to give a new name in the field u2018Material enteredu2019 as u2018Miracle Monitoru2019, I can give. The point is there is no need of material master record for u2018Miracle Monitoru2019.
When you create a sales order, just enter the word u2018Miracle Monitoru2019, the item name will change to ATA99.

Dear Aton
ONLY text items do NOT have/need a material master record.
For the rest, material master is a MUST.
Hope . this clears you.
