Master Data Client as R/3

Hi,

Could somebody guide me in suggesting how MDM is useful in a landscape where in a SINGLE Stand alone R/3 system under the following conditions

1. Existence of millions of records as master data

2. Lot of Master data getting created every day

3. Duplicates are unmanagable

4. An efficient search is not available

Please assume that there are not other MDC's other than the R/3 system. Actually I wan't to check whether there are any built in features available as part or R/3 that addresses the issues without MDM?

In other words, Is MDM the best solution to tackle these problems?

Thanks and Regards,

Sam Mathew

Hi Sam,

MDM would be the best solution because it provides matching and merging functions to tackle the duplicate problems.

R/3 does not contain any features to solve these problems.

Kind Regards

I read that there is an efficient way to execute search in MDM to find the duplicates (During CC and CMDM). How is the Search functionality designed technically... Is it is done using the KM part of Portal OR by using SQL search?

Generally, MDM 2.0 features advanced capabilities for Product and Business Partner data search based on TREX. Additionally, MDM features matching/merging algorithms/methods based on the Content Integrator when it comes to determining identical master data and providing ID mapping information.

Hi Markus,

Thanks a lot. I had the doubt of TREX usage in MDM for search. Thanks for clarifying..
