Hi,

During failover, DB instance will stops & restarted in another node automatically. So for a duration db instance will not be available.

There could be two types of running session.

1. SAP Session doing db relaed activity (e.g. Insert, update, select from DB)

2. SAP Session not doing db related activity. (e.g. Users logged in but not doing any activity, or enetring data)

Case 1: For all db transactions/acivity there is some timeout period. So, within this timeout period if your db instance comes up then all active db sessions will be successfull otherwise it will fails & rollbacked. For interactive dialogue sessions endusers will get a message.

Case 2: Regarding sap sessions, which are not doing any db related activity during this failover, system will continue those if your enque server process is active.

Hi ,

We have a discussion with SAP on this ,

If there is a CI failover with apps and enque replication server installed background jobs will continue with no issue and if enque replication server doesn't exists then the background jobs will fail.

If there is a DB failover then all the background jobs will fail , and the active user sessions will hang till failover completed and resumes after that..
