Creating Usergroup with specific rights

For my database i need a specific usergroup which has the right to create users. Is it possible to set specific rights for a usergroup or is there another way to do this. For me it is important that the user who has the right to create users that he is a member of this specific group.

Thanks Daniel

    Hello,

yes, it is possible to create an own usergroup.

The documentation can be found here:

    http://dev.mysql.com/doc/maxdb/en/48/f0daa8225811d3a97d00a0c9449261/content.htm

To find the context click on the <--> right beside the headline.

    Thanks, Stefan

Thanks for your answer, but creating a usergroup was not the problem. The problem which rights i have to set, that the members of the usergroup are able to create new users

      Thanks Daniel

    Hello,

beside sysdba only users from type 'dba user' are able to create other users. For example:

create user sapr3 password sap dba not exclusive

So sapr3 is a dba user. It can create other users.

But these users could only be standard or ressource users.

    They cannot create other users.

    Best regards, Stefan

Yeah, this is what i have tried, but then i get problems to add the new user, in your example sapr3, into a specific usergroup. Is it possible to add a user which i create in the way you did it in your example into a usergroup afterwords? If yes, please tell me in which way

    Hello,

when you create a user you can specify its usermode.

You can specify the usermode directly by using the option:

create user sapr3 password sap DBA | RESOURCE | STANDARD

or you can specify the usermode by specifying the group:

create user sapr3 password sap groupname sapuser

then the groupmode of the usergroup is the usermode of the new user.

As groupmode only RESOURCE and STANDARD is possible.

    DBA ist not possible.

You can specify the groupmode when you create the group:

create group sapuser groupmode resource | standard

So unfortunately it is not possible to create a group which include dba user.

    Best regards, Stefan
