Is BOBJ XI 4.0 client compatible with BOBJ XI 3.1

If I install SBOP Client 4.0, is it compatible to access both SBOP XI 4.0 & BOBJ XI 3.1/3.0?

The version of the client should be the same as the one of your server.

SAP does not support using the 4.0 client to access XI 3.x servers.

I understand that SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0 Client Tools are supported when installed on systems that contain the previous Client Tool versions liek XI 3.0/3.1

You will be probably able to install both versions of the tools on a single machine (This was the case with XI R2 and XI 3.1) but you should not use the XI 4.0 client tools to work with an XI 3.1 repository.
