late establishment as fixed assets

Former Member

hello

can anyone asist please:

we are working with the AA module for 3 years now.

(the transfer date for legacy assets was on 2007).

we have some old machinery components that it was decided only now to open as fixed assets.

(their capitalization dates are ranging from 2002 to 2010).

what i'm required to do is to establish them as fixed assets on 12/2010,

with the ORIGINAL capitalization dates,

in a way that the SAP will post all the depreciation up to now on 12/2010.

for example:

an asset with capitalization date = 01.01.2002

establishing in SAP = 31.12.2010

depreciation key = straight line

useful life = 10 years

acquisition value = 1000 USD

in this sample, the desired result is to post 800 USD depreciation on 12/2010,

and on the next 2 years to post depreciation of 100 USD each year.

IS THERE A WAY TO DO IT?

thanks a lot!!

what i did to solve this issue (in case anyone will need it...):

1. create an asset normally (as01/as11), but with "post capitalization" checked, & then fill the true capitalization date.

on Dep.Areas tab - fill dep key "MANU" for the desired dep.areas.

2.tran. ABNAN:

choose existing asset - the asset created on step 1.

document date, Orig.Val.Date - fill the true capitalization date.

amount posted - fill the original acquisition value

additional details tab - TT type 400

3. tran. ABMA:

TT type 600.

each "ENTER" shows another dep.area where you can fill the desired amount to be depreciated in this area.

4. tran. AFAB

5. when done and you want to bring the asset back to its "standard" Dep. parameters,

all you need to do is to change the Dep.Key from MANU.

since i couldnt find a way the system will let me do that- i've transfered the asset to a new one (trans. ABUMN)

Hi,

This happens all the time - you can use the SAP post-capitalization transaction to do this using transaction ABNAN - the system will post and calculate the "catch-up" depreciation.

Good luck,

...After further investigation:

the problem with the ABNAN is that the depreciation for PREVIOUS years

(posting to the P&L depreciation GL) is missing-

is there a way to solve this part?

thanks, Nitzan
