Unused Parameter needs to be Used

Hi all,

I've been asked to migrate a report from Production into our Test environment. Once I've got the report migrated however, I can't alter the Dynamic Data Connection parameter in the CMC. It exists in the report and can be displayed by selecting "Show unused parameters" but I can't change its value. Our test environment is set up so that we are required to select the data connection using the DDC parameter.

Does anyone know of a setting that allows a Dynamic Data Connection parameter to be set as used or unused? Or, has anybody been in the same situation and found a fix? If so I would greatly appreciate your help.

Thanks in advance and happy holidays!

Geoffrey

I would recommend to open the Crystal Reports business view manager (crystalBVM.exe) and check the permissions you have on the business views in your Test environment.

Do you login as administrator in the CMC?

WHich version of BO do you use?

Hi Stratos,

Thanks for your reply and my apologies for the delayed response.

The versions I'm working with are:

- BusinessObjects Enterprise XI R2 (11.5.8.826)

- Crystal Reports XI (11.0.0.2381)

I've checked the permissions in BVM for both our test and production environments using the "Edit rights..." command. All rights are listed as inherited for both Administrator and Everyone. I realize this is probably not very helpful.

For an indication of the functionality I can obtain in BVM; in the past I have created and edited all types of business objects (Data Connection, Dynamic Data Connection, Data Foundation, Business Element, and Business View) and have used these objects successfully through CR and BO.

Through CMC I found the following permissions for the non-administrator account that I have access to:

Add objects to the folder (Granted)

View objects (Granted)

Edit objects (Denied)

Modify the rights users have to objects (Granted)

Delete objects (Denied)

Change user password (Granted)

Copy objects to another folder (Granted)

Schedule to destinations (Granted)

Securely modify rights users have to objects. (Granted)

Schedule on behalf of other users (Granted)

...

All other permissions are Denied.

I attempted to view the note that you indicated in your other message, but I lack the required credentials.

Thanks again for your help, it is greatly appreciated.

Geoffrey.

Try the following:

1. In Business View Manager, go to FIle->Open

2. Open the data connection you want to modify

3. In the 'Property Browser' dialog box, set the 'Use Owner' and 'Use Catalog' properties to "False".

4. Repeat the above steps for each data connection contained in the Dynamic Data Connection.
