BW Web API

I am currently reviewing your SAP BW documentation and had a few questions I have been reading documentation and playing with the SAP interface and the BW WAD interface.

I have a few questions.

There is a lot of reference to the Web API but does not cover how to connect to this API and what are the methods associated with it. Do you know where I can find that information ? I have been on the SAP help site and have not seen that info.

There is also a lot tutorials that reference accessing / redirecting to another HTML /web based application. Also, I have seen where the data can be exported in an XML format after it is executed.

What I was wondering is if we can make a direct call from a .NET web application to a query that lives in the BW infrastructure

Hope I have explained what I looking for in this mail.

The Web API, is not really an API (<b>IMHO</b>). Its a hook to allow you (in BW 3.x) to manipulate the table output in web queries via a custom class. If you look at the white paper in the service marketplace about "How <i>to Hide a column</i>" you will see how to create it.

Unless, with what you are reading regarding using Command URL's to customize your web reporting. Those are available via help.sap.com, but also in the pdf in the service marketplace regarding command sequences. Those are pretty straight forward to use. Its under the BW section, under enhancement documentation

I know you can, but I am not sure where its documented. I think I saw a document somewhere on SDN, but can't say for sure.
