what is the difference between damage and coding field in Notification (PM)

Dear Experts,

May I know what is the difference between "damage" field (Notification tab) and "coding" field (reference object) during "Notification" creation in Plant Maintenance module? It seems like both also serving the same function but different content when I list down.

usual;ly object part will tell you which objcet in the equipemnt is refered and demage code will tell you what is danmaged in that object
