When I install Advanced Analysis I get an error about a dll file, BiXllFunctions, having failed to registe, meaning the whole add-in tab simply doesnu2019t show in Excel (2007), when I start the application through the Analysis shortcut. In PowerPoint, however, the extra tab does show up, but when trying to connect to my BOE XI 3.1 system, none of the connections to my cubes are visible, whereas in InfoView they are. Even though Windows Server 2008 is supported, I decided to try over on Windows 7 64-bit, hoping it was some sort of glitch, but the same occurs.
Additionally, I have a question. Is there a way to use Advanced Analysis without having PowerPoint installed? It seems you have to have it installed (in Office 2007), even if you only want to use Excel, because it throws a PowerPoint related error when starting Analysis for Excel. The only remedy for me was to also install PowerPoint. Also, you cannot choose to between versions for PowerPoint or Excel when installing the add-in, which leads me to believe that you have to have both Excel and PowerPoint installed (2007).

Great Diego,
It's solved for me with SAP note 1698838 - BiXllFunctions registration failed.
Thanks,
Rodrigo

Any Solution to this error of BiXLLFunctions ...? Getting this error when installed on the Win 2008 Server. It is running fine on Win 7 machine with Office 2007 and latest Patch i.e Analysis 1.2 Patch 4. The Analysis tab is working fine in Powerpoint but not in Excel.

Hi Srinivas,
Please check the AO installation on those PCs which has this connection error. Go to:
Start
->Run
-->nwcheckworkstation
--->Press the 'Check' button
This will actually start the check of all SAPGui components installed on the PC. After the check is finished select on the resulting screen the Collect diagnostic information for SAP Support check button.
Paste on some post the result. I will be easy to find the root cause.
Thanks
Diego Ferrary
Then press the 'Finish' button. A file named SapCheckWksta*.cab is
produced and a windows explorer window is opened for the directory
containng this file.
Hi Sandor,
Have you downloaded the most recent Advanced Analysis release (SP06) - it came out last week. Initially with the older versions for me it wasn't defaulting in the Analysis ribbon in Excel. I recommend installing the latest version and then seeing if you still have problems.
As for your other question - re: 2007- I haven't tried it without PowerPoint.
Regards,
Tammy
