Looking for recommended CRM/SRM client landscape

Hi,

With R3, a common setup for a client landscape is to have DEV->QA->Prod on 3 different systems and where DEV consists of a Sandbox, DEV, and Unit testing client.

Any suggestions whether a similar approach would be recommended for CRM abd SRM?
