I experienced the same issue once on a test system, a temporary copy of the user was made, the malfunctioning user was deleted, then we created it again by copy of the temporary user, and finally we've deleted the temporary user.

Hi everybody,
I have created a new client using SCC4.
I have logged into that client and had done LOCAL CLIENT COPY with sap_usr profile
and scheduled it as a background job.
the job was also successfully completed.
but one day later when i tried to login into that particular client it is throwing the error:
'password logon is no longer possible - too many failed attempts'.
why it is happening, plz someone help me in this regard.
Thank you very much in advance, do the needful.

Hi,
Ensure that the user has not been maintained in the logon data of any RFC connection. I have noticed in the past.
Try to check in SUIM and also in the STAD tx.
Enable the user trace and check from where the login is taking place.

Log in with another User, with same roles and Unlock the user.
Use SU01 t-code to Unlock it.
Ask Basis/Security team to do the needful.

Hi,
It's only possible if the user id is shared with multiple people trying from different locations.. however you can also get the details from SM21and look for "User-ID locked due to incorrect logon.." message then see the details where you w'll find the terminal from where it was tried to connect.
Thanks,
Salim
