How to recapture the deleted Pernr

Dear Experts

We have deleted a pernr due to some wrong data entries through PU00 in production system and wanted to restore the same no. through PA04 by resetting current no. as the given Pernr and then rehiring it.

However system didnot hire the same employee code, instead it choose the next pernr code which as per order to be generated after last hired employee.

Please advise, how to restore the deleted pernr as my client wants same code as his attendance entries already made.
