iView Security in EP6

I have read some notes in the new EP6, iVIews can set password access control. It means that whenever the iViews is access, a userid and password would be required. How do you set the security authentication for such iViews?

    Hi there Mike,

have a look at "SAP Enterprise Portal Security Guide v3.2" and the "SAP EP6.0 Pluggable Authentication" presentation by Will Carlton and Ron Hendrickx (held at TechEd'03) which are available here on the SDN. Both give a fairly good overview on the mechanism an iView can use.

You basically assign LoginModules to iViews at a certain priority. If the user hasn't previously authenticated with another LoginModule of at least that priority, the mechanism "fires" and activates the LoginModule.

The whole process is based on JAAS and both elegant and straight forward but can obviously bite you, as I've learned over the last few days (see Problem with own LoginModule in EP 6.0 ) ...
