How to use Version management in LCM

Hi guys can anyone help me in using version management in lcm.I installed lcm on solaris, its working fine.But when i tried to select version management in lcm it is asking me for the valid login. What i need to do in order to activate version management.Do i need to install anything or do i need to create subversion repository on the solaris or what i need to do.
