Hi,
we want to include the discussions also in our Search. We are using EP60 SP3 with latest hotfix for portal and CM.
We use the discussion iView and discussions are opened on the folder /documents/discussion.
I think that the discussions itself are stored in the collaboration repository. Although the configuration settings parameters show that the repository is active and not hidden we do not see the repository in the root directory.
Therefore i am also unable to create an index on this data source?
Can someone help me?
Thanks
Nicole
Hi Nicole,
I had the same problem. You must unhide Collaboration repository (it's necessary to reestart portal). Then you have to create an index, in data source assign collaboration/discussion folder. After that reindex.
After that you will be able to search in your discussion topics.

Hello Nicole,
you wrote that you set the 'collaboration' repository to not hidden (Means that you have unchecked the flag for the Attribute 'Hide in Root Folder' for the collaboration repository).
If you uncheck this flag it is also mandatory that you restart your portal to activate your changes. After the portal restart the collaboration repository will be visible. Please check that your user is also System Principal. You can add your user as system principal if
you navigate in the portal to
System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> Utilities ->
System Principal. Dublicate the 'collaboration_service' User and enter your userId as the name attribute for the service user.

Have you been able to find a solution to your problem ? I'm having the same issue, collaboration folder is invisible even though it should be and also no search possible through standard discussions. Anyways, as Ive read in SAPNET, this proeprty will be available ih NW'04

Hi,
I'm on SP11 and the System Principal Roles are already set according to SAP Note # 731715. However, the only thing that seems to be indexed in the discussion is the folders not the actual content. I've tried using different options in the Items to Index (All and Documents). I've even created my own crawler to see if that would help. No luck.
I'm using the "out of the box" discussiongroup off of the root folder. I did rename it to Discussion Groups.
Any thoughts?
Hi Samolyk,
can you exactly point out what do you want to find.
The topics and posts (contributions to a discussion)
are stored in the collaboration repository. So you should create an index and select the collaboration repository as data source for the index.
If you want to find discussion groups and the discussion itself (discussion which is created in the discussion groups iview) you should select the discussiongroups repository as datasource for your index.
Best Regards
Oliver
Hi Oliver,
Sorry it took me so long to find this, we just migrated into our production system and I have the same problem.
My Data Source is:
root > disscussiongroups > Marketing and Sales Discussion Group.
In test I've tried (with out luck) a source of:
root > discussiongroups
It is doing something because if I search on discussion or forum it will find the folder:
Marketing and Sales Discussion Group and
Competitor Discussion Forum
However I can never find the content in the Competitor Discussion Forum. (and Items to Index is set to All)
