We use manual inspection lots in various business scenarios. Here is one example with external manufacturing -

External manufacturer Produce, package, distribute batches for us. We never receive batches in our ERP system. But we do need digital signatures from our QC and QA to authorize shipment to customer.

Business process is like this.

1. External manufacturer produce the batches based on specification sent to them.

2. When batch is ready, Manufacturer send us samples for testing and retention.

3. We manually create inspection lot to process the samples.

4. QC/QA disposition the batch based on batch results.

5. Communicate disposition to external manufacturer.

6. External manufacturer can ship batches only after the UD in SAP.

7. As we never see product in ERP system, there is no way automatic inspection lot can be created.

Hope this helps

HELLO,

APART OF WHAT AKS TOLD YOU CAN CREATE THE INSPECTIOL LOTS FOR THE FOLLOWING FUNCTIONS ALSO.

1) FOR QUALIFICATION OF NEW ANALYST (I.E. ANALYST QUALIFICATION)

YOU CAN CREATE THE INSPECTION LOT WITH 89 INSPECTION TYPE AND INCLUDE THE MIC WHOSE QUALIFICATION FOR PARTICULAR TEST / ASSAY IS REQUIRED SO THAT AFTER PERFORMING HIS / HER QUALIFICATION THE FINAL RESULTS SHALL BE ENTERED AND UD SHALL BE GIVEN SO THAT YOU HAVE A TRACK RECORD FOR LIST OF QUALIFIED ANALYST IN YOUR PARTICULAR SECTION.

2) FOR VENDOR QUALIFICAITON.

This will help you to have the database on which test parameter you disqualifies / qualifies the vendor.

3) For Investigation of OOS, OOT or any Lab error in the particular test parameters.

I hope this will help you to understand for having manual lot (89 inspection type).

Snehal

Dear generally manual inspection lots are created for samples for approval where quantity is not involved where we can take RR and UD.

We can create a manual inspection lot for other inspection types, like 01, 04, 05 etc when you create manual ones for these types you usually need a reference document like a produciton order, purchase order or material document. The 89 inspection type is a considered a "misc" inspection type and is always manually created.

Check this SAP help link for creating manual inspection lot in SAP : http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46c/helpdata/en/2d/3519d8448c11d189420000e829fbbd/content.htm
